Defending paper braille in France in the age of digital

The CTEB in Toulouse – France’s last paper braille publisher – is in financial straits since making the bold decision in 2023 to sell its costly embossed books at the standard book price. Blandine Gallo, the CTEB’s president and a volunteer at the centre, works alongside employee Agnès Cappelletto on revenue-generating services like bank statements and tourist brochures in braille to help ensure the centre’s future.
